PostHeaderIcon Girl in the shadows - Virginia Andrews

She wasn't a little girl anymore -- but who was she really?
After an odyssey of heartbreak and betrayal in the wake of losing both her parents, it was mere chance that led April Taylor to the secluded home of a kindly elderly woman and her deaf teenaged granddaughter. There, April found a shelter from her mixed-up life, and from the confusion that severed her relationship with her sister, Brenda, after an encounter with Brenda's girlfriend, Celia. But when a dangerous couple arrives with greedy intentions, April's survival depends on being true to the one person she's never fully accepted: herself.

Thank you VC website for pictures, I will just go on to say this book was better than the first! I really liked this one because it was more intense, it showed the kindness of the charcters April had been staying with and how her life was turning out. when we read the first book we realised that April had nothing in her life she wanted anymore she didnt know what to do and it showed me that even with a lot going on for her she still was lost. and it made me wonder if i had been in her situation would i be the same?

however into the story, I loved how she managed to find someone she could have a intimacy with. but he happened to be such a baby and mommas boy that it hurt! also the fact that Rhona and skeeter were back was amusing to think bad seeds come back when needed for something. the story grew on to be a bit more intresting her connection with echo changed as well as the fact she learned how to sign amazed me I would love to learn to do it too! but she learnt despite needing to and it was sweet! showed of Aprils sweet side! i did however loved how her attidude had changed and her posture by standing up to rhona and skeeter, I loved the sound of her sarcasm.

To me this has to be the better part of the story out of the first and I liked the plot to this one, not that the other one was bad but it didnt blend well for me. but this one did, it showed she grew up even when she was forced to. she had grit and i enjoyed reading about it. so make sure to give this a go and tell me what you think.
