Edit Post
Her older sister Brenda was tall, athletic, competitive, and sure of herself. But April Taylor was short, sensitive, and overweight -- and she couldn't bounce back from their father's cutting criticisms the way Brenda did. April didn't know why their once-loving dad had become a coldhearted monster, but she was sure it had something to do with her. And she could see how his cruel behavior was tearing away at her gentle mother. But a glimmer of happiness returns when Brenda brings home her college roommate: beautiful, bewitching Celia. And April wonders if she might not be so different from Brenda after all....
your probabaly wondering why do I keep reading virginia andrews and write about her books! I shall tell you why, even though they sound similar in most stories with the complicated plots and twists! I still believe Virginia has that intact for me, I know when i pick up her book I would find a culture, Identitiy, love or family issues that will keep me entertained. I dont mind how the writing is I just want it to entertain me and keep me intrested and let me tell you this book has! and always will!
like april I have weight issues, I truly loved this book. the neglience of April was shown so clearly I was pitying her and then I pitied myself for doing it. I know the exact feeling having siblings who are harder on you than anything. The worst part was having Brenda do that emotionally to April to think having a big sister was actually trouble for her, even though April showed enough love to her older sister she never returned it without saying "your fat" in her face. cruel, but I enjoyed the turmoil because it made me feel like that. a high school issue with so much, but it saddened me with the begining part it was annoying to read what her father and mother did and how now the two siblings are left there in the cold world.
This book just delieverd issues that anyone would face normally, but with a added sequence of identity crisis and also love! what came out from the book is what I looked at, it had a good story plot. or some will say sounded similar to the rest, but we all know there was something different in each book like the charcters where they worthless or not, however april was pretty worthless here which could annoy anyone but she had a reason and it irked me alot.
