PostHeaderIcon Horou Musuko - Wandering son! by Takako Shimura

At the start of Wandering Son, Shuichi Nitori is a young, feminine boy in the fifth grade who transfers into a new school where he quickly becomes friends with a tall, boyish girl in his class named Yoshino Takatsuki. Yoshino soon learns of Shuichi's desire to be a girl and tells him that she wants to be a boy. Shuichi also becomes friends with two other girls in his class: Saori Chiba and Kanako Sasa. Saori instantly takes a liking to Shuichi and continuously encourages him to wear feminine clothes.

So here is a new anime I watched, it was interesting to say I was not fussy for once. I really loved the theme to this anime, if you are wondering why it is because this mangaka looked into Gender Dysrophia << I love that word! it sounds so awesome. I particularly loved that it clung on to themes such as transsexualism and Gender Identity. I did a lot of work on gender identity and so many pros and cons were on it. So lets get back to the anime, it was fresh, unique and a beautiful insight to middle school students turmoil of events.

Three main characters are Shuichi, Saori and Yoshino. There are more but I like to pin point these three because it was an anime of confessions, rejection and confusion. I say this because Shuichi is a male who dresses as a girl and undergoes the fear of puberty as he likes to be cute. As you can see thats a bit turmoil right there, and then you have two girls whom encouraged him to act more feminine as he seemed to like it. Aka Saori and Yoshino.

Yoshino who is a tall athletic girl in the anime, always wants to dress up as a boy. To the point of not wanting to wear a bra and strapping it down so she would be flat. An issue which she found really annoying. She loves the idea of being cool and likes to really act like a boy.

Saori who is probably the only one who isn't confused on her gender, has feelings for shuichi and encouraged him to cross dress more. She could be seen as brass and tends not to care what she bursts out with. But she is still popular among the male students she is a emotional girl whose anger gets the best of her in the show.So these three hit a little triangle, which is Shuichi confessed to Yoshino who rejected and Saori confessed to Shuichi who refused to return the feelings. All in all the show just deciphered alot into the transsexualism and identity and then stuck these three in, as the falling apart and making friends again.

It was cute, short and simply beautiful. I cannot express how much I loved the art work it looked as if they were made by watercolour and animated! and the scenery of some trees were so pretty! I think people should give this a go if they want to see something different and not so clichéd! Its something new and I loved new Animes with a great storyline! I'm sure people will have questions by the end of the anime or make you feel warm a bit I know it did with me but things could be different for you! :)

So tell me how you found it! :)

Dopey ~ <3

I shall leave you with two of the main songs! ENJOY! :D
